Veterans and Thanksgiving Day

I am very patriotic! A long story short I had a grandfather in the Revolutionary War, a relative in the war of 1812, my gggrandfather served in the civil war for 18 months, my grandfather in WWI, my grandmother was a secretary of WWI at our local draft board where the first 18 went to war, and my dad served in WWII being in the Battle of the Bulge. My dad died on Pearl Harbor day. Wow, no wonder I love this country. I am so grateful to our soldiers for our freedom, because it was not free. Let us remember as Thanksgiving Day approaches how blessed many of us are. Let us remember our brave soldiers, those that are ill, homeless and in need. Remember those that have gone before us and be thankful that they have touched our lives in many special ways. Let us be more grateful and thankful, looking for the good in others.

Change of Seasons

In just a few short days the seasons have changed so much. We went from beautiful bright trees to no leaves on the trees to frost. How fast the seasons come and go here in Pa. Or is it that it's always been that way and it seems to appear to come and go fast? Is it that I am getting older? I talked to my daughter Sarah last night for a long time on the phone. She's in Portland, on the West Coast. She would love our pond going in on our farm. She knows her dad has always wanted one but was too busy farming and working in the steel mill. Now, with retirement he has the time to put one in. It's going to be so nice with benches and all. It will be a retreat for us, a place to go meditate and read, to take in the seasons. She would be going down to that pond with her dad all the time. They have such a special bond. Hold onto your children, they are like the seasons, changing so fast. They are with us for only a short season and then they leave. How I miss her.

Friends At Work!

I had an email last night commenting on the picture of Jane and Bobby! My friends from work are loving it! A while back Jane was also awarded Teacher of the Year in Pa. I am adding more pictures of the parade and two of my friends at work. The first picture is of Father Bill Siple, Bobby and my brother Pat. Pat is Bobby's Godfather and a deacon in our church and Blessed Sacrament's business manager. Colleen and Heather, they are so sweet and fun to be with. Colleen is the mom and Heather came in PJ's as a little girl. It's a blessing that we all get along in the office. It makes work all the merrier! The last picture is my brother pretending to kiss a bishop's ring while the parade was going on. We had such a fun time and the kids are so nice in their costumes! I will be adding a new blog soon about my journey walking with the Lord. It will be a food for thought, some learning tools, scriptures, my ramblings on life, etc. I am looking forward to it. I love to write articles, poetry, have a journal (which I am so far behind in) and want to share that part of my world. Coming soon...Grace Filled Days!

Happy Halloween

Well, Where do I start. Everyday has been so fun since our son moved back home to go back to school. He has been substituting at our local Catholic High School and Catholic Grade School. When I told him that the teachers dress up for the Halloween Parade he had no problem of getting right in with everyone. He attended this school when he was little and now is substituting there. Long story short, his first grade teacher dressed up as a nun and he dressed up as a priest. We had to have their picture together. (I work in the church office) When Bobby was in first grade I was called by Mrs. Thimons before the parent-teacher conference day and I was asked to work on Bobby being a little less shy. Mrs. Thimons suggested he takes some kind of lessons to get him out of his shyness and give him more self confidence. So off to horse riding lessons and voila! he did come out of his shyness (and did very well with the lessons). I always attributed this to her so here's to wonderful Mrs. Jane Thimons. Who'd ever think this shy kid would be teaching with her in the same school.

Halloween or Christmas?

Greetings everyone! My display says Halloween but the weather outside is frightfully Christmas Season weather! Thou, I do remember years back taking the kids Trick or Treating in light snow. Anyone out there snowed in? Our store is heated with a wood burning stove and I must admit I love the first time we get it going. The smell and atmosphere gives the store such a warm fuzzy feeling. I can't wait to get up there and work in the store today, that's where I'll be, getting ready for the Simple Goods Show and our next open house! We love it!

Chill is in the air!

Wow! It's cold here in Western Pa. I love the change of seasons! Time to get the sweatshirts out. David and I have been so busy lately. We did sneak out to a great primitive show a few weekends back. It was put on by Days Gone By in Eastern Ohio. We had loads of friends set up there and met tons of people shopping there that we knew. The booths were loaded and the prices were great in every booth! If you wanted something you had to grab it as soon as you saw it or it would be gone. The antiques and the primitive crafts were plenty and as I said all great prices. You might want to put it on your calender for next year. We have been getting ready to set up at the Simple Goods Show. We plan on going to Ginny Curry's and Linda Millers that weekend also. You know, we want to get it all in! You've all been there before! Onto work, have a nice week everyone.
